oven fries

FYI, these aren’t your average baked french fries. I found this delicious recipe in college when I was looking for an easy way to replace those mediocre bags of frozen french fries you get at the grocery store.

I know it’s going to take some faith to step outside the frozen french fry comfort zone, but I promise these will be worth it. And healthier (except for the fact that you’re going to want to eat at least twice as many).

Ingredients
  • 10-15 medium red potatoes
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1½ tsp paprika
  • 1½ tsp garlic powder
  • 1½ tsp chili powder
  • 1½ tsp onion powder
  • 1½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit & line two cookie sheets with foil.
  2. Wash potatoes. If you absolutely despise skins and have loads of free time, peel them. If not, leave the skins on (they are better this way anyway). Slice potatoes according to your fry-size preference. Set aside.
  3. Mix together olive oil, spices, and salt & pepper in a large bowl. Add potatoes, and toss until thoroughly coated. Pour onto the two cookie sheets, spreading fries out evenly.
  4. Cook for 40 minutes, turning fries at the halfway point. Check fries 5-10 minutes early to make sure they don’t burn (cooking time will vary depending on oven). Add salt to taste, if necessary, and enjoy!
